Indiana State
basketball junior guards Lucas Eitel and Anna Munn have been named November's
Sycamore Scholar-Athletes of the Month, sponsored by State Farm Agent Sandy
Bryant.
Eitel,
who boasts a 3.62 grade point average in Mathematics Education, had a stellar
November, averaging 9.2 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. He capped off the month as a recipient of the
Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Of The Week. The Marshall, Illinois,
native was November's MVC and the NCAA leader in 3-point field goal percentage
as he drained 14-of-19 attempts (73.7 percent) and was 16-of-21 from the field
(76.2 percent). He added six assists, one blocked shot and two steals. Eitel
thrilled fans when he scored a career-high 25 points against High Point on Nov.
25th going a perfect 9-of-9 from the field, including a school-record 7-of-7
from 3-point range in the contest, which also tied a school record for most
consecutive 3-pointers hit in a game.
Eitel also tied the school standard for most consecutive 3-pointers made
in multiple games (eight) by making his final attempt at Ball State prior to
the High Point contest. He scored six points against No. 13 UCLA, Truman State
and at Ball State while adding three against Winthrop and was a perfect 2-of-2
from 3-point range in the season opener at UCLA.
Munn,
who hails from Indianapolis, carries a 3.74 grade point average in P.E.
Exercise Science. She currently leads the Indiana State women's basketball team
in scoring at 16.4 points per game, a mark that ranks second in the Missouri
Valley Conference. She helped the
Sycamores post a 4-2 overall record in November and the team's 6-2 overall record
ranks atop of league standings. Munn scored at least 10 points in each of the
first six games this season, becoming the first Sycamore since Melanie Boeglin in 2005-06 to start a season with
six-straight double-digit scoring efforts. She put together back-to-back strong
shooting efforts to end the month, going 6-for-11 from three-point range and
scoring a season-high 19 points against Belmont on Nov. 25, before knocking
down the game-winning shot at Saint Louis on Nov. 29, ISU's first road victory of
the season.
