TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- Indiana State dropped game two of the series against Illinois State with a score of 9-4 on Saturday afternoon.
Game two of the three-game series against Illinois State was scoreless until the fourth inning, when the Redbirds took the lead 1-0 when Knight reached first on an error, which resulted in a run scored from Bryant. Â
The Sycamores tied up the game 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Isabella Henning was walked, Abby Robakowski connected on a double, and Haley Webb drove in the run when she recorded an RBI single.Â
Illinois State regained the lead in the fifth inning with an RBI single by Larson to score Brown and put the Redbirds ahead 2-1.
The Redbirds continued to build on their lead in the sixth inning where they scored seven runs off of three hits and four errors by the Sycamore defense, to make it a 9-1 game.Â
Isabella Henning and Danielle Henning both recorded back to back singles in the bottom of the sixth and a three-run home run by Kennedy Shade cut the Redbirds lead to 9-4. Â Shade now leads the Sycamores in home runs, with 5.Â
Hailey Griffin (6-5) took the loss in the circle for Indiana State in 5.1 innings of work, where she allowed four hits and eight runs scored, while striking out five. Cassi Newbanks took over the ball in the sixth inning, allowing one hit and one run scored in the 9-4 loss.Â
