TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State cross country and track & field program coordinator John McNichols is in critical condition after suffering a stroke while attending the USTFCCCA Convention in Orlando, Fla., over the weekend.
 
McNichols, in his 34th year at the helm of the Sycamore track and cross country programs, is currently hospitalized at the Orlando Regional Hospital.
 
"Personally and on behalf of Sycamore Athletics and Indiana State University, I want to send our thoughts and prayers down to Orlando with Coach McNichols, his wife, Linda, and the entire McNichols family during this difficult time," said Director of Athletics Sherard Clinkscales. "John is an extraordinary coach and exemplary ambassador for this University, and we wish him a full and speedy recovery. We ask that the privacy of the McNichols family is observed at this time."
