TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Indiana State women's basketball program, under the direction of 10th-year head coach Jim Wiedie, has announced the completion of the 2009-10 season schedule, which includes 13 home dates.
The non-conference schedule features games against three postseason-qualifying teams from 2009 - Kansas State, Butler and SMU. Factoring in games within the Missouri Valley Conference slate, ISU will face off against six postseason teams from last season, including Creighton, Evansville and Illinois State. KSU and Evansville are the only two squads that qualified for NCAA Championship action.
Indiana State opens the regular season in Manhattan, Kan., at Kansas State on Nov. 14. ISU then travels to South Carolina for two contests with Furman on Nov. 19 and South Carolina-Upstate on Nov. 21.
The Sycamores make their debut at Hulman Center with a three-game homestand from Nov. 24 to Dec. 1, lining up against SEMO, Central Michigan and Detroit. A roadtrip to SIU Edwardsville, followed by another home game against Butler and a travel date to Eastern Illinois leads up to the highlight of ISU's non-conference schedule. The Sycamores will participate in the Bahamas Sun Splash Shootout in Nassau, Bahamas, with a pair of games against UMKC and SMU before a winter break.
Indiana State opens MVC play on Dec. 31 when it plays host to Creighton at Hulman Center, in addition to two more home games with Drake and Illinois State. The Sycamores travel to Wichita State and Missouri State over the weekend of Jan. 14-16, then return home for match-ups with Evansville and Southern Illinois.
League play continues with a key three-game road swing to face Bradley (Jan. 28), Northern Iowa (Jan. 30) and Illinois State (Feb. 6), then plays Missouri State (Feb. 12) and Wichita State (Feb. 14) at Hulman Center.
Another road excursion is scheduled at Southern Illinois on Feb. 18 and Evansville on Feb. 20. The Sycamores' final homestand includes Northern Iowa on Feb. 26 and Bradley on Feb. 28 for Senior Day. ISU concludes regular-season competition with a final roadtrip to Drake on March 4 and its last stop at Creighton on March 6.
For the third consecutive season, the State Farm Missouri Valley Women's Basketball Championship will be held at a neutral site -- The Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo., March 11-14.
