TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Former Indiana State women’s soccer manager and player Stacy Clough will appear on an upcoming “College Week” episode of Wheel of Fortune that is set to air on April 7, 2014.
The Northville, Michigan native tried out for the game show last November in Terre Haute at the Holiday Inn. She said she applied for the show through its website about a year prior to her tryout.
She said the tryout was a great time as she took part in a quick fire round, fill-in-the-blank quiz before moving on to a mock version of the game. After the tryout, Clough said she was advised if she were picked for the show, she would get a letter in the mail.
“They said 'You will receive a letter in the mail no later than two weeks after the audition if you made the show',” Clough said. “So, two weeks came around and I was ecstatic when a letter with a Wheel of Fortune letterhead was in the mail.”
Clough traveled to Culver City, California for the taping that took place on February 14, 2014. She said she was able to practice spinning the wheel, film a short hometown commercial, get her hair and makeup done and meet Wheel of Fortune host Vanna White prior to the show.
“We didn’t meet Pat Sajak until the show started, but he was awesome and very easy to talk to,” Clough said.
Her parents, Mary and Steve Clough, along with her cousin, Celeste Fuller, traveled with her to the show’s taping.
“I was able to meet a lot of other collegiate students from across the United State, which was really cool. Overall, the whole experience was great and went by so fast.”
Clough played one season at Indiana State before injury sidelined her career. She stayed at ISU and became a valuable asset to the team as a student manager for the next three seasons (2011-2013).
You can see how Clough did on Wheel of Fortune on Monday by watching locally on WTWO-TV (NBC) at 7 p.m. ET.
