TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Indiana State University baseball team rallied for yet another win on Tuesday night, as the Sycamores pulled out a 6-5 win on a single by senior Ben Ferrell in the bottom of the ninth inning at Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium in front of 180 fans.

Junior Levi Ferguson led the late rally for Indiana State (26-12), beginning the ninth inning by drawing a walk. Ferguson would move over to second base on a successful sacrifice bunt by freshman Jordan Pearson and Ferrell would bring Ferguson home by dropping the first pitch he saw from SIUE's Brian Lorenz into shallow left field for a Sycamore victory. Of the Sycamores' 26 wins this season, they have trailed at some point in 16 of them.

The Cougars (12-27) took an early lead on Tuesday, scoring three times in the first inning off of ISU starter Jason Van Skike. Van Skike, who was forced to skip his weekend start against Southern Illinois due to the cancellation of the third game, would settle down following the first inning, allowing just two hits and no runs for the rest of his time on the mound.

The Sycamores began their comeback in the bottom of the second inning, benefiting from an SIUE error to score a single run. Freshman Robby Ort reached first base when his hit to centerfielder Travis Becherer could not be fielded. Ort would steal second base and move to third on a ground out by junior Phil Liniger before crossing the plate on a well-placed bunt down the third base line by Ferguson.

ISU tied the game in the bottom of the fourth inning, as Ort led off the inning with a single to center field before moving over to third on a double by fellow freshman Jeremy Lucas. Ort would score on a ground out by Ferguson, with Lucas scoring on a wild pitch by SIUE starter Josh Hoguet.

Indiana State took the lead in the sixth on an RBI single by Liniger to plate senior Luke Fieser from second base and added to that lead in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Ort.

SIUE rallied from a 5-3 deficit in the top of the ninth inning of ISU closer Tyler Browning, scoring two runs with two outs on a triple by Adam Eggemeyer. Senior reliever Scott Harlan entered with Eggemeyer on third and sent the game into the bottom of the ninth by forcing a ground out by Joel Greatting, allowing for Ferrell's game-winning hit in the bottom of the inning.

Eight different ISU batters tallied hits on Tuesday night, with Fieser picking up a pair. Senior Ryan Strausborger went without a hit for the first time since March 20, snapping a streak of 22 consecutive games with a hit.

Up next for the Sycamores is a trip to Bloomington, Ind., for an in-state battle with the Indiana Hoosiers. First pitch on Wednesday is set for 3:05 p.m. and can be heard live online at http://www.indstate.edu/wisu through 89.7 FM WISU.
