TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State baseball home opener has been pushed back according to Sycamore head coach Mitch Hannahs. The Sycamores were scheduled to open the home portion of their schedule on Tuesday by hosting the Eastern Illinois Panthers but this weekend’s winter weather has forced the postponement of that contest. It will be rescheduled later.
Indiana State’s home opener will now take place at 3 p.m. (ET) Friday when the Sycamores host the Western Illinois Leathernecks in the first of a three-game weekend series. The same two teams will also meet at 2 p.m. (ET) Saturday and 1 p.m. (ET) Sunday.
The Sycamores have won nine straight on the road since opening the season with a 4-0 loss to the Auburn Tigers in the opening game of the Sunbird Baseball Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla. Indiana State is coming off a three-game sweep of the New Orleans Privateers this past weekend at Zephyr Stadium, the home of New Orleans Triple A Minor League team.
