TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—Junior's Shelby Wilson and Morgan Allee each received All-Missouri Valley Conference honors for their efforts during the 2012-13 season the league office announced Wednesday.
"Shelby is one of the hardest working players I have coached," head coach Shane Bouman said. "She is versatile, a great competitor and one who loves being pushed to be her best. Morgan Loves athletics and I feel she would spend every second at the ballpark if she could. She has traits that do not come around too often. We all are very lucky these two Sycamores are back next season. Both are very deserving of All-MVC honors."
Wilson was named first team All-MVC at third base where she primarly played during the Sycamores 50 games this season. Allee was named second team All-MVC at short stop where she played during every game. Allee was also named MVC Co-Newcomer of the year, the first Sycamore to ever receive the award.
Wilson led the Sycamores during the season with a .361 batting average, 34 RBI's, 88 total bases and a .445 on base percentage and tied Allee for the team lead in hits with 36. Wilson also moved into the top 10 in ISU history in RBI's.
Allee led the Sycamores in runs scored with 36 while finishing the regular season 7th in the NCAA in stolen bases with 36, breaking the ISU single season record of 28 and just one away from the MVC record of 37. All also batted .335 on the season with a .420 on base percentage in her first season as a Sycamore. Her 36 runs scored tied the ISU single season record and her 36 stolen bases helped lead the team to tying the Missouri Valley Conference Record of 100 in a single season.
