AUBURN, Ala.—Junior Shelby Wilson hit her third career home run and second in two games but the Sycamores (4-2) fell by a final score of 7-1 to the Tigers of Auburn (7-0) Thursday.

Both teams struggled on offense to start the game but the Sycamores defense set the tone early. After back-to-back walks in the bottom of the first inning, sophomore Ashley Dickerson got the Sycamores out of the inning off a diving catch on a deflected ball before tagging second base for a 1-4 double play.

The Tigers got on the board first in the bottom of the third to take a 1-0 lead but the Sycamores answered the Tigers call in the top of the fourth off Wilson's lead off home run.

Sophomore pitcher Stephanie Fougerousse sat the Tigers down in order in the bottom half of the fourth but they responded in the bottom of the fifth, scoring a pair of runs to retake a 3-1 lead over the Sycamores.

The Tigers then extended their lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring four runs, three unearned to make it 7-1. The Sycamores could not answer and fell to the Tigers by a final score of 7-1.

Wilson led the team going 1-3 at the plate with a home run while sophomore Megan Stone also finished 1-3.

The Sycamores will continue play in the Tiger Classic Thursday when they take on the Jayhawks of Kansas at 6:30 p.m.
