HAUTE, Ind. - The Indiana State women's soccer team has
signed 11 student-athletes to letters of intent for the incoming Class of 2013.
These prospects will join the Sycamore program in August and look to continue
the success that Indiana State saw late in the 2012 season, as the team made a
run to the Missouri Valley Conference championship match for just the second
time in program history.
Head coach Erika True enters her fifth season in charge of the Indiana State
women's soccer program, leading the team to a late-season unbeaten streak of
four matches against Drake (T, 0-0), Missouri State (W, 1-0 in overtime),
Northern Iowa (W, 4-3 on penalty kicks) and Evansville (W, 2-1) to reach the
championship match. The high school signees for Indiana State this season are:
Kate Cox of Mount Vernon, Ind.; Bergen Elkjer of Purcellville, Va.; Abby Keller
of Cincinnati, Ohio; Maddie Orf of St. Charles, Mo.; Abby Reed of Rockford,
Ill.; Maggie Richard of O'Fallon, Mo.; Brittany San Roman of Glenview, Ill.;
Maddie Schaak of Stillwater, Minn.; Gaelen Stejbach of Loveland, Ohio; Kayla
Welch of St. Charles, Mo.; and Alex Whittington of Slaughters, Ky.
"We are very excited to have this group of 11 fresh faces join our program,"
said head coach Erika True. "This group of girls is playing at some of the
highest levels of club soccer in the country and will come into the Sycamore program
in 2013 looking to make an immediate impact.
"As our team is rolling off a successful
year, this freshmen class will help continue to push the bar of success for us
here at Indiana State. All of the girls are very passionate about our program
and know that we have high expectations for them to help push our program to
new heights. I am thrilled to officially welcome the 2013 soccer recruiting
class to Indiana State!"

Mount Vernon High School - SWISA
A four-year starter at Mount Vernon High School ... earned the team's Golden
Boot, Best Offensive Player and MVP in all four seasons ... third team
all-state in 2012 ... 114 goals and 36 assists in her high school career, ranking
eighth all-time in goals in the state of Indiana ... won back-to-back state
championships in 2011 and 2012 with SWISA ... four-year first team
all-conference selection.
Bergen Elkjer - 5-9 - D - Purcellville,
Va.
Woodgrove High School - VSA Heat / FC Virginia
A four-year starter at Woodgrove High School ... led WHS to a state
championship in 2012, as the team posted a 24-0-1 record last season ...
assisted VSA Heat to the U17 U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship in 2012
... three-time Virginia State Cup champions with VSA Heat (2007, 2009, 2011)
... totaled 16 combined regional, state and national championships from
2007-2012 with the VSA Heat ... currently playing with FC Virginia.

Three-time Team MVP at Wyoming High School ... named first team all-conference

Maddie Orf - 5-6 - MF - St. Charles, Mo.
Incarnate Word Academy - Lou Fusz Soccer Club
A third team all-state selection in 2012 as a junior at Incarnate Word Academy
... also named first team all-conference as a junior ... earned second team
all-state and second team all-metro selections as a sophomore in 2011 ...
played her club soccer with Lou Fusz Soccer Club ... earned selection to the
Missouri ODP State Team in 2011 ... part of the team with Lou Fusz that has won
four consecutive state championships.
Abby Reed - 5-4 - F - Rockford, Ill.
Boylan Catholic High School - FC United
Chicago Tribune First Team All-State in 2012 as a junior ... 37 goals and nine
assists last season ... top-ranked individual in her high school region last
season for Boylan Catholic High School ... led the NIC-10 Conference in points
during the 2011 and 2012 seasons ... earned conference MVP honors in 2012 ...
three-year varsity starter ... played her club soccer with FC United.
Maggie Richard - 5-8 - MF - O'Fallon,
Mo.
Fort Zumwalt West High School - St. Louis Scott Gallagher
A three-year starter at Fort Zumwalt West High School ... assisted FZWHS to
back-to-back Missouri District 8 championships in 2011 and 2012 ... 12 goals
and seven assists as a junior last season, earning First Team Gateway South
honors ... six of her 12 goals last season proved to be the game winner ...
enters her senior season ranking eighth in career goals (23) at FZWHS ...
played her club soccer with SLSG.

Special Mention Chicago Tribune All-State selection in 2012 as a junior ...
posted an Illinois state record for fewest goals allowed in a season, as
opponents scored just four goals against the Loyola Academy goalkeeper last
season ... holds a career goals against average of .172 ... played her club
soccer with FC United.
Maddie Schaak - 5-4 - MF - Stillwater,
Minn.
Stillwater High School - Saint Paul Blackhawks
Earned honorable mention all-state and all-conference selections following her
senior season at Stillwater High School ... played her club soccer with the
Saint Paul Blackhawks ... two-time team captain ... honorable mention
all-conference as a junior ... led SHS is points as a senior after finishing
second on the team as a junior.
Gaelen Stejbach - 5-3 - MF - Loveland,
Ohio

A four-year starter at Loveland High School ... ranked second on the team in
goals as a freshman and third as a junior ... earned second team all-conference

High School ... ranked in the Top 15 in scoring for the state of Kentucky as
both a junior and a senior ... 103 goals and 47 assists over her high school
career ... scored 42 goals as a senior, ranking second in school history ...
