TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—The Indiana State University Softball program signed three student-athletes to National Letter of Intent Wednesday to compete for the Sycamores in the Fall 2013 season. Sycamore Softball signees include: Erika Crissman of Los Alamitos, California; Rylee Holland of Rochester, Indiana and Brooke Riemenschneider of Chatham, Illinois.
Erika Crissman will join the Sycamore Softball program after a standout career at Los Alamitos High School in Los Alamitos, California for Coach Rob Weil. Crissman was high school teammates of current Sycamore pitcher Halle Humphrey. Crissman garnered numerous accolades including All-Sunset League & All-State Honors, 2010 Rookie of the Year, Coaches Award, Second Team All Orange County and 2012 Defensive Player of the Year. Her high school team was two-time Sunset League Champions with the 2013 season still to be completed. She plays travel ball for the Coach Danielle Petterson and LB Jets. Crissman has been on the Honor Roll throughout high school and plans to major in Education. Her parents are Bill and Pam and has three sisters, Carmella, Emma and Cristina.
Why ISU?: "I choose ISU to experience something different and because of the strong Education program. The girls were all very friendly and I had a good connection with the coaches. I'm excited to be part of building a successful program."
Coach Bouman on Erika: "Erika is a speedy, athletic outfielder who comes from a great high school program and has played against some of the best competition in the country. We expect her to have an immediate impact on the Sycamore softball program."
Rylee Holland will attend Indiana State after being a two-sport athlete in softball and basketball at Rochester High School in Rochester, Indiana. Holland was an All-Three Rivers Conference, All-District and All-State honoree in softball as well as Academic All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-Conference in basketball. Rylee's high school coach is Carla Holland and she plays for Kim Clay and the Indiana Magic Gold. Her parents are Andy and Carla and has a brother and sister, Alec and Alexa. She plans to major in Criminology at ISU.
Why ISU? "I chose Indiana State and the softball program because I felt comfortable around the coaching staff and liked Coach Bouman's attitude towards building a winning program. It was the perfect distance from Rochester, they have the program (Criminology) I'm interested in and both my parents are alumni of ISU."
Coach Bouman on Rylee: "Rylee is a hard-nosed, high energy athlete whose work ethic and competitive nature will be an immediate asset to our program."
Brooke Riemenschneider will join the Sycamore Softball program after finishing her career at Glenwood High School. Riemenschneider was a three-time All-Central State Eight Conference and four-time All-Academic honoree. She holds the school records in RBI's and Homeruns in a season. She plays for Coach Vondel Edgar at Glenwood High School and Ed Heineman for the Midland Magic. Brooke's parents are Bob & Karen and has a brother and sister, Bryce and Breanna. She plans to major in Nursing at Indiana State.
Why ISU: "I choose Indiana State because of the great atmosphere. It has a great Nursing program along with awesome coaches and players that I can relate to! I'm excited to help start the climb towards a chance to win a championship and most of all share it with amazing people!"
Coach Bouman on Brooke: "Brooke is a fierce competitor who has pop in her bat. She will be a threat in the middle of the line-up and hope her toughness will be contagious throughout the team."
