WICHITA, Kan.—The Indiana State volleyball team (3-14, 1-6 MVC) fell in straight sets Saturday, on the road to the Shockers of Wichita State (13-5, 6-2 MVC).
In the first set, the Shockers got on the board first and the Sycamores were never able to come back after tying the match at 1-1 on a kill by Shea Doran. The Sycamores closed the Shocker lead to 20-17 before the Shockers went on to win the set 25-17.
In the second set the Sycamores again found themselves facing a 20-14 deficit before a kill by junior Molly Murphy and four straight kills by senior Christie Fullenkamp cut the Shocker lead to 20-19. The Shockers hung touch, however, and won the set 25-21 to take a 2-0 set lead over the Sycamores.
The Sycamores got behind early in the third set and were never able to get ahead as the Shockers went on to win the third set 25-14 and the match, 3-0.
The Sycamores will return to action when they host Drake and Creighton in the ISU Arena Oct. 12-13.
