TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Sycamore women's golf team currently stands second in the nine team field at the Indiana State Spring Invitational held on the par-72, 5,951-yard layout at the Country Club of Terre Haute.
Indiana State carded an opening round team score of 313 and trail only William Woods (312) after 18 holes of play. Drake tallied a score of 316 while Evansville and Northern Iowa are tied for fourth at 319. Bradley stands in sixth with a score of 320 while Loyola's 321 places them in seventh. The tournament field is rounded out by SIU Edwardsville's 322 and Eastern Illinois' 334.
Amanda Smith leads the Sycamores after one day of play as she posted a 75 and is tied for third individually. Erinn Sutton battled the tough conditions to score 78 and is tied for ninth. Megan Berube carded a 79 and is tied for 13th while McCall Christopher recorded an 81 to tie for 23rd with Marissa Uradomo, who also scored 81.
William Woods not only leads the team scoring but is also represented at the top of the individual leaderboard as Myriam Hassan posted the top round of the day at 73.
Playing in the tournament as individuals, Indiana State's Gina Della Camera posted a 78 and is tied for ninth. Andrea Frankiewicz tallied an 83 and is tied for 35th. Margaret Harper's 88 is good enough to tie for 48th while Shelby Williams carded a 90 to tie for 53rd.
Due to tonight's forecasted weather conditions, tomorrow's final round will not start until 11 a.m. (ET). Admission to the event is free and open to the public.
