After enjoying an impressive indoor season, the Indiana State track and field program is now being recognized for academic excellence as Kelly Steffen and Bobby Webb have been named February’s Sycamore Scholar-Athletes of the Month, sponsored by State Farm Agent Sandy Bryant.
Steffen, a Bloomington, Ill., native, holds a perfect 4.0 in Math Education. The junior earned All-Conference recognition at the 2013 Missouri Valley Indoor Track & Field Championships in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Feb. 23-24 in the Pentathlon, a multi-event with competition in the 60-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and 800 meters. A member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Steffen tutors in the Math Lab and holds open Math Lab hours for student-athletes on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
Webb, who carries a 3.12 grade point average in Political Science/Legal Studies, was a very busy man himself at this year’s Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.
