BOSTON, Mass. – Former Indiana State All-American Felisha Johnson (Nike) captured the women's weight throw crown at the USA Track & Field Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday in the Reggie Lewis Center.
Johnson had a career best effort of 23.45m (76'-11.25”) to win the 2015 title over Jeneva Stevens whose best throw was 23.43m (76'-10.5”).
Johnson was a two-time NCAA National Champion in the weight throw for Indiana State and finished fourth at the USA Track & Field Indoor Championships a year ago. She has the second best distance in the world this season.
The former Sycamore will also be going for the title in the women's shot put qat 3:20 p.m. (ET) Sunday. Indiana State volunteer assistant coach Timothy Morse and former Sycamore Chris Fields will be competing in the men's weight throw at 11:15 a.m. (ET) Sunday. Rose-Hulman graduate Elizabeth Evans will be one of seven women competing in the high jump at 3:15 p.m. (ET) Sunday.
