TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—Junior infielder Shelby Wilson has been named second team All-Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association the organization announced Thursday.
"Congratulations to Shelby," head coach Shane Bouman said. "Her dedication, competitive desire, and lead by example work ethic has made her a special player for Sycamore softball."
With the honor, Wilson marks the first Sycamore softball player to be named to an NFCA All-Region team since the 2009 season when Meredith Simpson and Katie Armour were each on named to the Mideast Region. Wilson is also now eligible for consideration to the All-American teams.
Wilson led the Sycamores throughout the 2013 season with a .361 batting average, 53 hits, 34 runs batted in and eight home runs. Wilson in her career at Indiana State is in the top 10 in seven different statistical categories with one year left to play.
Wilson was also named first team All-Missouri Valley Conference for her efforts during the 2013 season.
