TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – In a game postponed by rain on Saturday, the visiting Evansville Purple Aces picked up a series victory in Terre Haute behind a 3-1 victory in game two on Sunday afternoon.

Game three of the series has been cancelled due to heavy rain.

UE's Chris Pearson hit a solo home run in third inning on Saturday, the only run scored before the game was postponed in the seventh inning.

When the game resumed on Sunday, Evansville tacked on two insurance runs on a throwing error by ISU shortstop Tyler Wampler to take a 3-0 lead. Indiana State scored one run in the bottom of the ninth inning on redshirt sophomore Jacob Hayes' two-out triple to right that scored junior Mike Fitzgerald. The Sycamores brought the tying run to the plate in junior Owen Conway, but UE reliever Sam Johns caught Conway looking to end the game.

Indiana State falls to 18-20 overall, 7-10 in the Missouri Valley Conference with the loss while Evansville improves to 19-29, 9-8 in league play.
