TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Senior Jordan Pearson went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and all nine position starters for the Indiana State baseball team recorded at least one hit, leading the Sycamores to a 10-5 victory and a season sweep of the Purdue Boilermakers in front of 679 fans from Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium on Tuesday night.

Indiana State claimed their second consecutive game and improves to 14-13 on the season while Purdue drops to 11-19 overall. The Sycamores are now 4-1 against the Big Ten Conference this season, after sweeping their two-game series with the Boilermakers and winning two out of three games at Minnesota in mid-March.

Indiana State and Purdue combined for nine runs over the first three innings as the Sycamores took a 5-4 lead early in the game. Pearson (single), junior Mike Fitzgerald (single), junior Tyler Wampler (one-run single), sophomore Landon Curry (single) and junior Cody Zimmerman (two-run single) tallied five consecutive hits with one out in the bottom of the second inning as ISU scored four runs in the frame.

ISU took a one-run lead into the fifth inning before Pearson hit his second double of the game, plating junior Owen Conway and redshirt sophomore Jacob Hayes on a double to deep center field. The Sycamores added three more runs in the sixth inning, with senior Robby Ort and Hayes each driving in a run.

As a team, Indiana State pounded out 14 hits with four doubles, their third consecutive game with at least 10 hits in a game.

Six pitchers took the mound for Indiana State on Tuesday with junior Daniel Peterson (1-3) earning the victory. Peterson tossed three scoreless innings in relief, allowing two hits while fanning two batters.

Pearson totaled a career-high three hits and a career-high two doubles, also driving in two runs. Ort went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in, moving into a tie with John LaMar (175 – 1989-92) for fourth in Indiana State history for RBIs. Redshirt senior Koby Kraemer (2-for-4, two runs scored) and Hayes (2-for-4, double, RBI) also picked up multiple hits on Tuesday.

Indiana State continues their six-game homestand this weekend, hosting the Missouri Valley Conference-leading Creighton Bluejays. First pitch on Friday, April 12, is set for 6:30 p.m.
