MINNEAPOLIS - Redshirt senior Koby Kraemer hit a grand slam into the seats in left-center field at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome on Sunday, leading the Indiana State baseball team to a 9-4 victory and a series win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Indiana State improved to 7-7 on the season with the victory while Minnesota dropped to 12-8.

UM's Alec Crawford and Lance Thonvold combined to no-hit Indiana State for the first five innings on Sunday, as Minnesota held a 3-0 lead heading into the sixth. The Golden Gophers tallied four consecutive hits with three doubles in the fifth inning to jump out to the lead halfway through the game.

Senior Casey McCurdy posted Indiana State's first hit of the game, lacing a leadoff single in the sixth inning before junior Tyler Wampler drew a walk and sophomore Landon Curry reached on an error following a sacrifice bunt, loading the bases with no outs in the inning. Two batters later, senior Robby Ort broke up the shutout with a RBI single through the right side of the infield, followed by junior Mike Fitzgerald reaching on an error that also scored another run.

Kraemer stepped up for ISU's fourth at-bat with the bases loaded and crushed a 1-1 pitch into the first row of seats in left-center field at the Metrodome, putting the Sycamores in front 6-3. The extra-base hit by Kraemer was ISU's first since Kraemer tripled in the first inning at Austin Peay last Wednesday, a span of 33 innings.

Indiana State answered Minnesota's single run in the sixth inning with one of their own, as Ort's triple into the gap in right-center plated Curry from second. The Sycamores added two more runs in the top of the ninth inning as Curry doubled home redshirt sophomore Jacob Hayes and Wampler with a line-drive into right-center.

Junior Daniel Peterson started for ISU, allowing one run on five hits over 4.1 innings with a pair of strikeouts. Redshirt senior Tyler Browning (1-1) earned the victory in relief, as Browning, redshirt sophomore Greg Kuhlman, redshirt senior Tyler Fehringer and junior Josh Dove combined to allow just three hits over the final 3.2 innings of the game.

Kraemer led the team with four runs batted in on Sunday, while Curry and Ort each totaled a pair of hits and two RBIs.

Indiana State's six-run sixth inning was their most runs in an inning since also scoring six runs in the second inning at Southern Illinois on May 12, 2012. Kraemer's grand slam was first for ISU since Curry cleared the bases at Ball State last season on March 28.

The Sycamores return to Terre Haute and Bob Warn Field for their next five games, hosting Austin Peay this Wednesday, March 20, at 3:00 p.m. Missouri Valley Conference play starts this weekend as Southern Illinois travels to Terre Haute on March 22-24.
