AMES, Iowa—Despite trailing 5-1 after six innings, the Indiana State softball team scored seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat the Bears of Northern Colorado 8-7 and to improve to 3-0 on the season.

After scoring just one run through the first six innings, the Sycamores got their bats going in the top of the seventh to pull out a huge come-from-behind win.

Senior outfielder Halee Myers started off the inning with a single to center field, followed by a walk by freshman catcher Meredith Henriksen. With runners on first and second, freshman Sarah Lawrence hit into a fielders choice before freshman Kelsey Montgomery doubled to right field to score Henriksen and make it 5-2.

Freshman Alexa Cavin kept the inning moving with an RBI single up the middle to score Lawrence before advancing to second on the throw and advance Montgomery to third to make it 5-3. Junior Morgan Allee then tied the game at 5-5 with an RBI double down the right field line.

The Sycamore offense did not let up, however, as junior Shelby Wilson was hit by a pitch and two batters later, sophomore Megan Bunting singled to load the bases with two outs. Myers then gave the Sycamores their first lead in the game with her second hit of the inning off a a single to right field to score Wilson and Allee and Bunting stole home to make it 8-5.

In the bottom half of the frame, the Bears made things interesting with a lead off single and home run, however, sophomore pitcher Stephanie Fougerousse recorded three quick outs to end the game with the Sycamores on top 8-7.

With the win, the Sycamores improve to 3-0 on the season. Allee finished the game 2-4 at the plate with two RBI's and two runs scored.

The Sycamores will finish out the day with a game this evening against North Dakota, scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
