HAUTE, Ind. –
The Indiana State track and field team will be competing at two venues this
weekend as they continue to prepare for the 2013 Missouri Valley Conference
Indoor Championships which are just two weeks ago. A select number of athletes
will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., site of the 2013 NCAA National Championship,
to compete in the Tyson Invitational while the rest of the team goes to
Allendale, Mich., for the Grand Valley State Big Meet.
Six
men and six women will be making the trek to Fayetteville, Ark., where they will
compete on Friday and Saturday. Dustin Betz (mile). Greggmar Swift (60
hurdles), Adarius Washington (60 hurdles), Brandon Pounds (weight throw), Chris
Fields (weight throw), and John Mascari (3,000 meters and 5,000 meters) will be
competing for the Sycamore men.
Stacia
Weatherford (60 hurdles and 4x4 relay), Carmelia Stewart (60 hurdles), Leeann
Michl (800 meter invitational and 4x4 relay), Felisha Johnson (weight throw and
shot put), Macy Black (4x4 relay), and Shelby Higginbottom (4x4 relay) will represent
the Indiana State women.
Competition
begins at 1 p.m. (ET) Friday at the Randal Tyson Track Center on the campus of
the University of Arkansas with Saturday's session beginning at 2 p.m. (ET).

A
total of 30 men and 25 women will be competing at the Grand Valley State
University Big Meet in Allendale, Mich., a meet that features 10 teams ranked
in the top 25 of Division I, Division II, or Division III. Competition in the meet
will start at 11 a.m. (ET) Friday and run through 8:30 p.m. (ET). There will
not be live results from the event due to the large number of teams and
individuals competing.
This
is the final chance for many of the Sycamores to earn their spot on the travel
roster for the MVC Championships. Indiana State does have one more meet before
the Championships, that coming on Feb. 15 when the Sycamores compete at the EIU
Friday Night Special.
