TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – A native of Hawaii will venture to the mainland next year and compete for the Indiana State women's golf team according to Indiana State head women's golf coach Greg Towne. Marissa Uradomo (Wailuku, Hawaii) signed her National Letter of Intent to compete for the Sycamores beginning with the Fall 2013 season during the early signing period.

“Marissa stood out to me for a couple of reasons,” Towne said. “Her experience winning against high level competition and her ability to hit it hard and handle the wind were definitely factors that will make her a valuable asset to the team.”

Uradomo is in her senior year at Baldwin High School on the island of Maui. She entered her final campaign with a 36 match winning streak in the Maui Interscholastic League and has led the Bears to three straight conference championships. She was a first team all-conference selection as a junior after winning the 2012 championship and went on to finish sixth in the state tournament. She was also named second team all-conference as a sophomore and honorable mention as a freshman.

“She has a wonderful hand path which is difficult to find in high school players,” Towne said. “She has a strong desire to play professionally and understands that she needs to stretch her limits past warm weather climates and onto different grasses.”

Uradomo won the 2012 Aloha Junior PGA girls 15-18 division by six strokes with an even par 144, qualified for the 2012 USGA Women's Public Links Championship with a two under 70, and qualified for the 2012 Junior Worlds at Torrey Pines, Calif. She has also competed extensively on the International Junior Golf Tour and was the winner of the IJGT Major at Terra Lago, Calif., for girls under 19.

“We competed with quite a few California schools to land Marissa and are really pleased she chose Indiana State,” Towne said. “She has a gregarious personality and will be a good teammate for the girls.”
