COLUMBIA,
Mo.
- The Indiana State baseball team pounded out 18 hits and 15 runs on Wednesday,
pushing their winning streak to 12 consecutive games with a 15-1 victory on the
road at Missouri.
The Sycamores sit at 17-4 on the season heading into their first conference
series of the year, coming up next weekend at Evansville. The win for ISU
snapped a string of seven consecutive wins in the series for UM, with the
Sycamores last winning against the Tigers in 1995.
The Indiana State offense set the tone early, scoring three runs in the first
inning and two more in the second. Junior Jeremy Lucas drove in two runs in the
first inning, before scoring on a single to left by senior Kyle Burnam.
Freshman Landon Curry and redshirt junior Koby Kraemer each picked up RBIs in
the top of the second inning.
On a day when ISU did not travel with their four primary starting pitchers, the
pitching staff brought eight hurlers to the mound and allowed just seven hits.
Seniors Brandon Flora, Brandon Dorsett (2-0) and Reggie Hochstedler, juniors
Tyler Fehringer and Devin Moore and sophomores Josh Negele, Kurt Kudrecki and
Tyler Browning combined to limit the Missouri offense to just one run.
Indiana State added five more runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by senior
Ryan Walterhouse's three-run shot to left field. The home run was the senior
third baseman's third of the year.
Lucas brought home two more runs in the sixth before Curry drove in one and
Kraemer added two more in the ninth.
Kraemer, Burnam and junior Casey McCurdy all tallied three hits on Wednesday,
with Lucas leading the way with four RBIs. Kraemer and Walterhouse also drove
in three runs each.
Indiana State opens up Missouri Valley Conference play on Friday, traveling to
in-state rival Evansville for a three-game set. First pitch on Friday is set
for 7:00 p.m. (ET) from Braun Stadium.
