The Indiana State baseball program placed their second 2010 team member in the 2010 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft, as senior outfielder Ryan Strausborger was selected in the 16th round by the Texas Rangers. Strausborger joins junior Jacob Petricka (second round - Chicago White Sox) on the list of Sycamores drafted this year.
Strausborger, a native of Osceola, Ind., is a three-time all-MVC selection, earning the selection at three different positions over the past three seasons.
The senior outfielder led ISU in many offensive categories this past season, including: at bats (241), runs (63), hits (83), doubles (19), triples (8), total bases (127), slugging percentage (.527) and stolen bases (41-46). His 41 swipes this past year placed him in second place on the single season stolen base list behind ISU great Mitch Hannahs.
The Rangers took Strausborger with the 21st pick of the 16th round, the 496th pick of the 2010 MLB Draft.
The 2010 MLB Draft runs until June 9, so check back to GoSycamores.com for any updates on the MLB Draft and any future selections of Indiana State baseball student-athletes.
