TERRE HAUTE, IN ? Indiana State senior centerfielder Chris Schmidt has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Team, it was announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Schmidt is now eligible for the Academic All-American voting which will be held next week.

Bradley's Eitan Barbalat and Eastern Illinois' Brian Morrell were named to the first team as pitchers. The infield consists of Notre Dame's Brett Lilley, Illinois' Ryan Hastings, Minnesota's Tom Steidl, Northwestern's Jake Goebbert, and Notre Dame's Sean Gaston as catcher. Joining Schmidt in the outfield is Minnesota's Matt Nohelty and Northwestern's Mike Kalina. The designated hitter is Illinois' Daniel Webb.

Schmidt leads the team with a .362 batting average and a 3.92 GPA in the classroom studying computer hardware technology.

The Sycamores are in Omaha, NE, this weekend for a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series against the Creighton Bluejays.
