PORT CLINTON, Ohio -- Indiana State is in seventh place after the first two rounds of play at the Toledo Rocket Classic on Monday. The event is being held at the Catawba Island Club, which is a par-72, 5,884 yard layout in Northern Ohio.
The Sycamores opened play with a round of 311 before coming back with a mark of 314 in the afternoon. Over the course of the two rounds, Indiana State's team score of 625 is good enough for seventh place in the 14 team field.
Western Michigan leads the event with a score of 603, after posting rounds of 300 & 303. Eastern Kentucky is second (304-301=605), while host Toledo is third (301-308=609). Loyola is the top Missouri Valley Conference team in fourth place (308-304=612) while Bradley is fifth (309-311=620). Eastern Michigan tallied rounds of 310 and 314 for a score of 624 and is sixth place.
The Sycamores are just one stroke behind with their score of 625 and lead Central Michigan who in in eighth (315-311=626) while Ball State is ninth (316-313=629). Detroit is in 10th with scores of 314 and 329 for a total of 643 while Bucknell is 11th (323-329=652), Fort Wayne is 12th (328-325=654), Illinois-Chicago is 13th (335-330=665) and Green Bay is 14th (338-341=679).
Individually, Marissa Uradomo is tied for 16th place with rounds of 76 and 78 as her total for the day was 154. Just two strokes behind Uradomo is freshman Sierra Hargens who posted the Sycamores' best round of the day at 74 before coming back with an 82 in the afternoon. Hargens' tally of 156 is tied for 22nd place.
Thilda Staubo posted marks of 78 and 79 to tie for 26th place with a score of 157. In a tie for 44th place was Robyn Blanchard who rebounded from a morning 84 to tally a 77 in the afternoon with a score of 162 for the two rounds. Sophie Benetti rounded out the Sycamores' lineup with rounds of 83 and 80 for a total of 163 and is tied for 49th place. Playing as an individual, Abigail Irwin tallied rounds of 88 and 84 for a total of 172 and a tie for 71st place.
