PORT CLINTON, Ohio -- The Indiana State women's golf team will compete in its penultimate tournament of the fall when they travel to the Toledo Rocket Classic on Monday & Tuesday, October 10-11. The event is being held at the Catawba Island Club, which is a par-72, 5,884 yard layout in Northern Ohio.
The Sycamores won their first event of the fall with a come-from-behind victory on the final day of the YSU Kickoff Invitational around the Labor Day holiday. Senior Marissa Uradomo was the medalist of that event while freshman Sierra Hargens was the runner-up in her first collegiate event. Since, the Sycamores have finished fourth at the Loyola Fall Invitational and was eighth last week at the Missouri Valley Conference Preview.
Indiana State will use the lineup of Uradomo, Thilda Staubo, Robyn Blanchard, Sophie Benetti and Hargens in the tournament. Abigail Irwin will play in her first tournament of the year -- making an appearance as an individual.
"This tournament features a big field of great teams," head coach Greg Towne said. "The course and the host team are both really good so we will look to advantage of our opportunity to play 36 holes on Monday."
Another tough field awaits the Sycamores at the Rocket Classic where Indiana State is joined by Ball State, Bradley, Bucknell, Central Michigan, Detroit, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Fort Wayne, Green Bay, Illinois-Chicago, Loyola (IL), host Toledo and Western Michigan.
The tournament will consist of three rounds with 36 holes being played on Monday, followed by the final 18 on Tuesday. There will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m. (ET) on both days. BirdieFire live scoring will be used here and via a link at the top of this story.
