The Indiana State women's golf team heads to Chicago on September 19-20 to participate in the Loyola Fall Invitational. The Sycamores won their first event of the season over Labor Day weekend when they were victorious at the YSU Kickoff Invitational. Senior Marissa Uradomo took medalist honors at that event.
Uradomo and the Sycamores return to the city of Chicago where they earned second place at the last year's Missouri Valley Conference Championship. This event, however, will be held at Flossmoor Country Club which features a par-72, 6,112 yard layout.
"We still have some development to do," head coach Greg Towne said. "We have some players with new equipment in play and we are having some good competition for spots. The course is a Donald Ross design which is great experience for the team. They have difficult green complexes and will be beneficial for our learning. 36 holes on Monday will be a good test for our fitness and focus. Looking forward to the challenge of playing in a field with a few MVC teams as well."
The Sycamores' lineup will feature Uradomo as well as freshman Sierra Hargens who finished second individually in her collegiate debut at Youngstown State. Robyn Blanchard and Thilda Staubo will also be competing while freshman Kayla Ryan gets the nod and will be making her debut this week for Indiana State. Sophie Benetti and Alex Jennings will also make the trip and compete as individuals.
The event will feature 36 holes of play on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday. Competing in the event will be host Loyola, Butler, Chicago State, Evansville, Green Bay, Illinois-Chicago, Indiana State and Southern Illinois. There will be a 9:30 a.m. (ET) shotgun start on both days.
