Terre Haute, Ind.—Senior Gaelen Stejbach has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week after her impressive performance against Western Illinois.
In the home opener of the 2016 season ISU took on the Western Illinois Leathernecks. Stejbach recorded a total of two shots during the match and both resulted in goals. In the 24th minute senior midfielder Maddie Orf fed Stejbach the ball who shot from 30 yards out placing it just above the keeper's hands and into the net. Her second goal came late in the second half when freshman Caitlin Glascott sent a long cross into the box where Stejbach received it and passed the ball into the net from 15 yards away. This performance was a career high for Stejbach who is now the Sycamores leading point and goal scorer.
Stejbach has not only had an impressive performance on the field but in the classroom as well. The senior midfielder holds a 3.71 grade-point average while pursuing a degree in social work.
