PLAINFIELD, Ind. -- The Indiana State Athletics Department paid a visit to the Indianapolis area with the first ever Sycamores On The Road Coaches Caravan on Monday, July 18 at The Coachman Restaurant in Plainfield. An incredible gathering of nearly 100 Sycamores visited together for a special evening of celebration for all the great happenings in Indiana State Athletics.

The Sycamores On The Road Coaches Caravan was an opportunity as part of a continuing effort to reach out to the Sycamore alumni base in the Indianapolis area. A team of Sycamore head coaches and administrators made the visit to reach out to Indianapolis Sycamores and preview all of the exciting things that will be happening during the 2016-17 academic year at Indiana State.

Fans in attendance were treated to free food, drawings for season tickets, a question and answer session with Sycamore head coaches and a chance to meet personally with department leadership.

Those in attendance included Athletic Director Sherard Clinkscales and his administrative team, head basketball coach Greg Lansing, head football coach Mike Sanford, women's basketball head coach Joey Wells and the skipper of Sycamore baseball Mitch Hannahs. Other head coaches present and speaking to the group were: Shane Bouman (softball), Kyle Walsh (women's cross country), Traci Dahl (volleyball), Greg Towne (women's golf), Angie Martin (women's track & field) and Matt Leach (women's swimming & diving) as well as Tammy Schaffer (spirit squad & community service coordinator).

The event was hosted by John Michael Vincent (popularly known as JMV) who hosts and Indianapolis based sports talk show on ESPN Radio 1070 AM The Fan. Representatives from the Sycamore Varsity Club and Indiana State University Alumni Association were also on hand.

While Monday's event is the only one planned for this summer, be on the lookout for additional Sycamores On The Road Coaches Caravan events to be added on future dates each summer.

Indiana State Athletics would like to thank all members of the Indianapolis community who visited with us on Monday night in Plainfield.
