Bouman Adds Four Student Athletes For 2016-17 Season

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—Indiana State softball head coach Shane Bouman announced the addition of four student-athletes, Tuesday, for the 2016-17 season.

 

Kenzie Ihle

Kenzie Ihle will join the Sycamores after a standout career at Des Moines Area Community College in Boone, IA.  Kenzie finished her career becoming the single season wins leader with 31. She was named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week six times and the National Junior College Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week five times during her sophomore campaign. Kenzie led the nation in strikeouts per game and was second in wins, which led her to being named an NFAC First Team All-American.

 

Kenzie is the daughter of Brian and Cindy Ihle. She loves farming, sports and watching Netflix.

 

Kenzie on why she chose Indiana State: “I chose ISU because I wanted to continue my academic pursuits at a top notch university and compete at the D1 level. The coaching staff at ISU has been amazing to work with throughout this decision making process. They have made me feel right at home and I am excited to start my next journey as a Sycamore!”

 

Gabi Carter

Gabi Carter comes to Indian State from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA. As a freshman, Gabi ranked fifth nationally in both homeruns and RBI's, name her a NFAC First Team All-American.

 

Gabi is the daughter of Tony and Ann Carter. Gabi enjoys wakeboarding and shooting in her free time. She is currently undecided on a major.

 

Gabi on why she chose Indiana State: “I chose ISU because the team and coaches seem to be a tight knit group I was looking for. The coaches are very caring and personalble, as well as looking out for the best interests. I loved the campus as soon as I stepped on it, and academically it fit me perfectly. I'm excited to start my years as a Sycamore and grow as a person. ”

 

Brooke Mann

Brooke Mann joins the Sycamores after completing her freshman year at the University of Wisconsin. In her first collegiate season, she played in 33 games where she held a .300 batting average, slugging percentage and on base percentage in the Big Ten Conference. 

 

Brooke is the daughter of Wesley and Vicky Mann and comes to Terre Haute from Monrovia, CA. Brooke is currently undecided on her major.

 

Brooke on why she chose Indiana State: “Having already been through my freshman year in college, I knew exactly what I was looking for in a new school, team, and coaching staff.  After visiting ISU, I'm grateful to say I found everything I was looking for and more. I chose ISU because it encompasses everything a student-athlete could dream of, in order to be prepared to excel on and off the field, as well as in life after sports.”

 

Kylie Stober

Kylie Stober transfers to Indiana State after finishing her sophomore season at the University of Minnesota. As a sophomore, she made 22 apperances on the season compiling 50 strikeouts in her 47 innings of work. She earned wins over #1 Oklahoma and an NCAA Tournament win against NDSU sending Minnesota to Championship Sunday. As a senior in high school, Kylie led Lakeville South to its first ever state championship.

 

Kylie is the daughter of Ed and Ellen Stober and will continue to major in Business.  

 

Kylie on why she chose Indiana State: “I chose Indiana State because it's a good fit, and I get to start over and have a second chance to be the best student and best athlete I can be.”

 

Coach Bouman on the additions to Sycamore Softball: “These four young women bring a competitiveness and winning attitude that fits very well with Sycamore Athletics. We are excited for these four to wear blue this fall.”
