TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Indiana State Baseball (35-21, 13-8 MVC) finished 2016 with its eighth consecutive winning season, as they fell to Missouri State in Day Three of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament, 11-4. The Sycamores showed promise, going up on the Bears, 4-0, through the second inning, but would not be able to blank the Bears.

All eyes were on the Sycamores for the first few innings, as they brought the hits and took the early lead, scoring two in the top of the first. Senior Andy DeJesus started the game with a single through the right side and scoring on a double from fellow senior, Andy Young. Sophomore Dane Giesler stepped in for another RBI as he singled to right field to take the 2-0 lead.

In the top of the second inning, freshman Clay Dungan led off with a single, and was followed by a senior Kaden Moore RBI double. Moore was moved to third by freshman Chris Ayers, and then scored the Sycamores' fourth run on a sophomore Tyler Friis sacrifice fly.

With the 4-0 lead going into the bottom of the second inning, the Bears' Spencer Johnson hit a solo shot to put them on the board, cutting in to the Sycamore lead, 4-1.

The Bears did what they do best in the bottom of the third inning, as they knocked a couple of long balls, stringing together six runs to charge ahead of the Sycamores, 7-4.

The Sycamores held the Bears scoreless for the fourth and fifth innings, but Missouri State brought the hot bats back in the sixth inning to score another four runs to take the 11-4 lead.

The Bears would hold on to the lead to eliminate the Sycamores by a final score of 11-4. Andy DeJesus finished the game 3-for-5 with a run scored, while Kaden Moore finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI.

The Sycamores finished the season 35-21, 14 games over .500, to post their 8th winning season in-a-row.
