JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior All-American hurdler Adarius Washington advanced to Saturday's quarterfinal in the 110-meter hurdles following his qualifying performance at Day Two of the NCAA East Regional on Friday evening.
Washington finished sixth overall at 13.72 seconds, which won Heat Three for an automatic qualifying spot. The senior Indianapolis native entered as the East's No. 1-ranked hurdler at 13.40 seconds – the No. 2 time in the NCAA this year and the No. 9 time in the world at the time it was ran at the Drake Relays in April.
Fellow Indianapolis native and hurdler Marcus Neely unfortunately won't be joining him in the quarterfinal race after finishing 28th overall in the prelim round at 14.25 seconds.
Washington will run again at 7:20 p.m. tomorrow night, less than an hour after junior David Timlin runs in the quarterfinals of the men's 1500-meter run at 6:45 p.m.
