TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State Baseball fell in the series opener to Evansville by a final score of 3-2. The Sycamores held a 2-0 lead after the fifth, but Evansville put up a three-run, ninth inning to sneak away with the win. In the loss, the Sycamores were limited to just three hits, making for a quiet night offensively.

The Sycamores struck first in the bottom of the fifth inning, as senior Kaden Moore was hit by a pitch to find his way on base. Following Moore, freshman Clay Dungan knocked his fourth triple of the year, putting the Sycamores up 1-0. Junior Tony Rosselli then reached on an error while senior Andrew Gutierrez's 3-4 ball allowed Dungan to score, moving ahead 2-0.

Indiana State held Evansville scoreless until the top of the ninth when the Aces took a 3-2 lead. After getting the first out, the Sycamores threw one away at first, allowing the runner to reach safely. The Aces followed with three singles with runners on, and would blank the Sycamores in the bottom half of the ninth to earn the win.

The Sycamores were out-hit by the Aces, 9-3, as Dungan led the offense with a triple, a RBI, and a run scored.
