DES MOINES, Iowa – Senior All-American hurdler Adarius Washington ran the fastest prelim time in the 110-meter hurdles to qualify for Saturday's final, and several other Sycamores posted high finishes following the action at Day Two of the 107th running of the historic Drake Relays.

Despite chilly conditions at Drake Stadium on Friday, Washington clocked in with the fastest time in prelims of the 110-meter hurdles by two tenths of a second at 13.75. The final on Saturday will be a fast one, as it will consist of four of the top-10 hurdlers in the NCAA at the moment: Washington (No. 6, 13.58), Aaron Mallett of Iowa (No. 4, 13.50), Teivaske Lewin of South Dakota (No. 7, 13.59) and Nate Pozolinski of Milwaukee (No. 9, 13.66).

Junior and fellow Indianapolis native Marcus Neely nearly joined Washington in finals, falling three one-hundredths of a second shy of qualifying at 14.22 seconds to finish 10th overall.

Indiana State also had a couple high finishers in the field on the women's side. Senior Katelyn Rutz made it to finals and finished seventh in the university division discus, tossing 48.33m (158-07) in the process.

Likewise, junior LeVisa Evans finished tied for eighth among a large group of Division I women in the high jump. Evans cleared 1.68m (5-06.00) and was clean on her first two bars to enter into the tie for eighth.

Additionally, former Sycamore and NCAA Champion Felisha Johnson was part of an eight-woman Rio Olympics preview competition in the shot put. Johnson finished sixth overall at 17.69m (58-00.50) and was one of three former Valley shot putters in attendance alongside Illinois State's Brittany Smith (fourth, 17.87m/58-07.50) and Southern Illinois' Jeneva (McCall) Stevens (seventh, 17.46m/57-03.50). Tia Brooks won the event at 19.37m (63-06.75), toppling two-time Olympian Michelle Carter (18.72m/61-05.00).

Competition will begin on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. ET for the Sycamores with the beginning of the shuttle hurdle relay prelims. Former Sycamore and NCAA Champion Kylie Hutson will also be competing on Saturday in the Rio Olympics preview of the women's pole vault.
