TERRE HAUTE Ind. – The Sycamores (24-16, 4-5 MVC) wrapped-up the weekend with No. 24 Dallas Baptist (27-11, 7-1 MVC) on Sunday afternoon. Despite leading the Patriots in the fifth inning, Indiana State would fall by a final score of 10-5.
The Patriots scored in the first inning in all three series games, plating one in the top half of the inning today, and eventually scoring another in the top of the third inning.
Indiana State struck back in the bottom of the third, tying things up at 2-2. Sophomore Dane Tofteland and junior Kyle Moore reached on back-to-back walks before sophomore Tyler Friis loaded the bases on a fielder's choice that did not turn up an out for the Patriots. Senior Andy DeJesus was then hit by a pitch to bring in the third run of the game for the Sycamores as they took the lead. Senior Andy Young then grounded into a double play with no outs to score Kyle Moore, putting ISU up 4-2. Junior Hunter Owen kept the inning going with a RBI single to short stop, giving the Sycamores the 5-2 advantage.
The Patriots answered with a four-run inning that was unanswered by the Sycamores.
Dallas Baptist struck again in the eighth inning, scoring three more runs to pull ahead of Indiana State, 9-5. The Sycamores threatened in the bottom half of the inning, but could not push any across.
The Patriots plated their tenth run of the game in the top of the ninth inning as sophomore Austin Listi hit his second home run of the game.
The Sycamores would fall to Dallas Baptist by a final score of 10-5.
Indiana State scored five runs on seven hits and one error, as junior Tony Rosselli went 2-for-3 with a walk, Friis scored two runs, and Owen finished with two hits and three RBIs.
