TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—Senior Taylor Lockwood threw her first career no-hitter in game one and senior Abbie Malchow hit her second home run of the season in game two as the Sycamores swept Wednesday's doubleheader with Loyola at Price Field.

 GAME ONE

Despite being quiet in the early innings, the Indiana State offense exploded in the bottom of the third inning and senior Taylor Lockwood pitched her first career no-hitter as the Sycamores defeated Loyola 14-0 in game one.

Neither team could get much going offensively until the bottom of the third inning when Indiana State sent 22 batters to the plate. At the end of the frame, the Sycamores had crossed the plate 14 times and recorded 11 hits, including four bunt singles. All 11 of the hits were singles as the Sycamores played small ball to a science.

Lockwood retired the first nine batter she faced before her only blimish, a leadoff walk in the top of the fourth inning.

After a quiet fourth, Lockwood retired the Ramblers in order in the fifth to record her first career no-hitter and the first at ISU since 2012.

GAME TWO

After being tied 2-2 into the fifth inning, senior Abbie Malchow broke the game open in the bottom of the frame with a three-run home run as the Sycamores swept Loyola with a 7-2, game two victory.

The Sycamores jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning when senior Kelsey Montgomery hit a leadoff single before the Sycamores loaded the bases with a pair of walks. Junior Erika Crissman then hit an infield single to score Montgomery before junior Rylee Holland scored on the throw to make it 2-0 Sycamores.

In the top of the fourth inning, the Ramblers got on the board as a pair of doubles came around to score, tying the game 2-2 heading to the fifth.

In the bottom half of the fifth, junior Mary Turitto was hit by a pitch before Crissman reached on a fielding error to put runners on first and second. After a pop out, senior Abbie Malchow crushed a ball over the center field wall, her second of the season, to put the Sycamores in front 5-2.

The Sycamores kept the inning going as freshman Monique Castillo and junior Kassie Brown eached singled before scoring on a Rambler fielding error to give Indiana State a 7-2 advantage.

Indiana State never looked back as their defense kept the Ramblers at bay, en route to the doubleheader sweep with a 7-2 victory in game two.

The Sycamores will return home on Saturday when they open a three-game series against Evansville at Price Field as part of Alumni Weekend.
