ST. LOUIS – Senior Sycamore sprinter Chidera Obasih has been named the Missouri Valley Conference's Female Track Athlete of the Week, the Valley announced Tuesday evening.

Senior Chidera Obasih is putting together a very impressive indoor season on the track, and her performances at UNI on Saturday were her best yet in 2016. The Brookfield, Wis., native dominated her signature event – the 60 meter dash – setting new career-bests in both prelims (7.37 seconds) and finals (7.36), beating out her closest competitor (teammate Demetra Camble) by 0.35 seconds. In the 60, Obasih remains third all-time at ISU behind seven-time NCAA Champion Holli Hyche (7.21) and All-American teammate Katie Wise (7.25). Her latest 60-meter time ranks tied for 22nd in the nation and leads the Missouri Valley by 0.08 seconds over Missouri State's Marissa Kurtimah.
She wasn't done there, though, as she also clocked in the Valley's fastest 200 meter time this season at UNI as well. She won the event on a time of 24.33 seconds, which converts down to the MVC's top time this season at 23.96. Her actual time of 24.33 ranks fifth all-time at ISU and her converted time ranks tied for 39th in the NCAA this indoor season. Obasih also ran an impressive 55-second split on the ISU women's 4x400 meter relay that won on a time of 3:49.86.
