TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State head basketball coach Greg Lansing announced today (April 16) that Grant Prusator (Rochelle, Ill./Highland CC) has signed a national letter of intent and will be on the roster for the next three seasons, including the upcoming 2014-15 campaign.
Prusator, a 6-1 guard, has enjoyed a highly successful junior college and high school career. As an incoming sophomore, he will have three years of eligibility with the Sycamore program. He most recently led his Highland Community College team with a 32 point showing against eventual national champion Jones County on March 18. Prusator was 9-of-16 from the field, including eight 3-pointers and hit all six of his free throw attempts in the National Junior College Athletic Association Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan.
During the 2013-14 season, Prusator averaged 13 points per game and hit 43.9 percent of his shots from the field, including a mark of 42.7 percent from 3-point range. He tallied an 89 percent mark from the charity stripe and added 2.5 rebounds as well as 1.6 assists per game. He reached double figures scoring in 25-of-35 games during the season. He also had a 32-point performance on January 18 in a 79-66 victory at Richard Daley College as he hit eight treys in that contest as well.
Prusator lettered for three seasons at Rochelle Township High School but his senior campaign was curtailed by an early season knee injury. During his high school career he averaged 17.4 points per game and also owned a 40 percent shooting mark from the field. In 2011-12, he was an honorable mention all-state selection and was named first team all-conference. He was an all-tournament selection at the Chuck Dayton, Moline MLK and LaSalle Peru Christmas Tournaments. In 2011-12, he set a school record for 3-pointers in a season (95) as well as career treys with 225. He was 101-of-118 from the free throw line (85.6 percent). His high school team won the conference championship and finished second in the Illinois Regional. In 2010-11, he also earned first team all-conference and his team finished second conference play and second at the Illinois State Regional.
He is a three-time honor recipient in high school and a member of the National Honor Society. Prusator was an academic all-conference selection and a student council deacon.
Prusator joins recently named NJCAA All-American Charles "Tre" Bennett (Houston, Texas/Lamar State CC), Laquarious Paige (West Orange, Texas/Stark HS) and Brandon Murphy (Montgomery, Ala./Carver HS) as members of the incoming Sycamore Basketball signing class. Bennett, Paige and Murphy each signed with the program in November of 2013.
