The Indiana State University Softball program signed three student-athletes to National Letter of Intent, head coach Shane Bouman announced Monday, to compete for the Sycamores in the Fall 2013 season. Sycamore signees include: Aubre Carpenter, Kaitlyn Wolken and Yvette Alvarez.

Aubre Carpenter will join the Sycamore Softball program after a standout career at Sabino High School in Tucson, Arizona and most recently from Pima Arizona Community College. Carpenter was the defensive player of the year during her sophomore, junior and senior years with earning All-State 4A accolades during her senior year, batting .429. Currently at Pima, Carpenter is batting .416 with 24 stolen bases on the season. Carpenter played travel ball with the Tuscon Pure Lightning and has been coached by Jeff Fowler, Angela Guerra and Armando Quiroz. Carpenter was also a member of the National Honor Society, and is the student body secretary and plans on majoring in criminology. Her parents are Randy and Janice Carpenter and has four brothers and four sisters.
Why I Chose Indiana State:
"I chose Indiana State softball because it was a great environment. The girls were so welcoming and seemed to really care a lot about softball. I am beyond excited to begin playing for ISU and the coaches."
Coach Bouman on Carpenter:
"Aubre is a great defensive middle infielder whose speed and competitive desire will be great to have on the field for next season."
Kaitlyn Wolken comes from No. 1 ranked Butler Community College and Tonganoxie High School in Lawrence, Kan. Wolken is currently batting .447 with 38 RBI's at Butler. Wolken was a four year member of the honor roll, first team All-League and Lawrence Journal World All-Area team. Wolken also played travel ball for the Olathe Rockets Gold and has been coached by Lee Matzeder and Doug Chance. Her parents are Robert and Jennifer and has a younger sister, Taylor. Wolken plans on majoring in occupational therapy at ISU.

"Kaitlyn comes from a winning program and bring championship expectations to Sycamore Softball. She is a versatile player who will hit in the middle of our lineup. Her athleticism, versatility and competitive desire will make an immediate impact on our program."
Yvette Alvarez will join the Sycamores after competing at Sahuarita High School and currently at Pima Community College. Alvarez led Sahuarita to a State Championship and was ranked No. 24 out of 100 by Southern Arizona Top Sports Figures. Alvarez earned Player of the Year, Senior All-Star Game MVP and All-Arizona Honors during her senior year campaign. Alvarez is currently seventh nationally in RBI's with 67, batting .413 with a slugging percentage of .748. Alvarez played travel ball for the Arizona Desert Cobras and Tuscon Scramblers. Her High School Coach was Chris Fanning and is currently coached by Armando Quiroz at Pima CC. Parents are Anna and Ernest Alvarez and has three brothers and four sisters and plans to major in criminal justice at ISU.
