TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—Sophomore Megan Stone homered in the series finale but the Indiana State softball team (14-27, 3-12 MVC) fell by a final score of 9-1 to the Bluejays of Creighton (24-11, 10-2 MVC) Sunday at Price Field.

"Today we got beat by the best team in the Valley," head coach Shane Bouman said. "Creighton was just better than we were today. We had some chance to get some big hits, but didn't get key hits. We look forward to getting back to work and getting better on Tuesday."

The Bluejays jumped on the board early as they led off the game with three consecutive hits to score one run and take a 1-0 lead over the Sycamores. Creighton then added two more runs in the top of the second inning to extend their lead to 3-0 over the Sycamores.

Stone cut into the Bluejay lead in the bottom of the second inning as she led off the inning with a solo home run to center field to make it a 3-1 game.

Creighton answered back with a solo home run of their own in the top of the third, however, to make it 4-1 after 2.5 innings of play.

The Sycamores threatened in both the bottom of the third and fourth, getting runners to second and third but were unable to plate any additional runs.

The Bluejays then added to their lead in the fifth and sixth innings, scoring three in the fifth and two in the sixth to make it 9-1.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Sycamores were unable to get any closer as they fell to the Bluejays by a final score of 9-1 in the finale of the three-game series.

Stone finished the game 1-3 with an RBI and run scored off her eighth home run of the season. As a team, the Sycamores are now second all-time at ISU with 23 home runs, just 11 away from the ISU record.

The Sycamores will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Normal, Ill. To face the Redbirds of Illinois State in a doubleheader.
