KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The hurdling corps of the Indiana State Sycamores continued to shine in outdoor competition as Greggmar Swift won the men's 110 meter hurdles and Stacia Weatherford took the women's 400 meter hurdles. The Sycamores also picked up a victory in the day's final event when John Mascari outran the field to claim the 10,000 meters.
Mascari completed the 10,000 meters in 30:00.26 which is the fourth fastest time in Indiana State history and 10 seconds faster than runner up Petre Okwera of Tennessee (30:10.54). Sycamore teammate Tristan Selby ran the ninth fastest time in Indiana State history as he finished fifth in 30:36.32.
Indiana State placed three in the top eight of the men's 110 meter hurdles led by Swift who was the only competitor under 14 seconds with a time of 13.94 to post the win. Teammate Maurice Lyke and Purdue's Brandon Winters each ran 14.03 to tie as the second collegian and third overall. Lyke's time moved him into the Top 10 at Indiana State with the 10th fastest time in school history. Sycamore Adarius Washington finished in seventh at 14.22.
Stacia Weatherford gave the Sycamores their second win of the day as she won the women's 400 meter hurdles by just over a second with a season best time of 58.68. Eastern Michigan's Asia Rawls was second in 59.89 as they were the only two to go under one minute in the race.
All three Indiana State women pole vaulters placed in the top eight with two going over the four meter mark. Nicole Hope cleared a career best 13'-5¼” (4.10 meters) to place second with Kimyanna Rudolph third at 13'-1½” (4.00 meters) and Richelle Kimble eighth at 11'-11¾” (3.65 meters). Eastern Michigan's Alysha Newman won the event by clearing 13'-9¼” (4.20 meters).
The men pole vaulters also placed three in the top eight led by Wes Schenck who took second by clearing 15'-9” (4.80 meters). Connor Curley and Drew LaMaster tied for fourth as each cleared 15'-5” (4.70 meters). Kennesaw State's Michael Owenby also cleared 15'-9” but had one less miss than Schenck to earn the win.
Derek Bunch had a good night in the men's shot put as he posted a distance of 56'-10¼” (17.33 meters), a career best and ninth best in school history, to finish eighth overall.
Nicole Lucas ran a career best 17:55.74 to finish second in the women's 5,000 meter race which was won by Eastern Michigan's Rachel Quaintance (17:37.71) while Taylor Head ran 14:58.82 to finish eighth in the men's 5,000 meters.
The Sycamores had a couple of top finishes in the 3,000 meter steeplechase as Dustin Betz was second on the men's side and Kalli Dalton fifth on the women's side. Betz ran 9:05.70 in finishing behind Ohio State's Jackson Neff (9:01.63). Dalton ran 11:12.80 in placing fifth in the women's race. The top four all run sub-11 minute times led by Eastern Michigan's Victoria Voronko who won in 10:23.23.
Corey Hahn ran to a sixth place finish in the men's 1,500 meters with a time of 3:57.66.
Katie Wise advanced to Saturday's 100 meter finals as she ran the fifth fastest time in Indiana State history of 11.73 seconds while placing third in the seventh heat. The finals will be run at 1:05 p.m. (ET) Saturday.
Shaun Smith advanced to Saturday's men's 100 meter finals after winning the first heat in a career best time of 10.52 seconds. The finals will run at 1:07 p.m. (ET) Saturday.

Macey Black finished 12th in the 400 meters (57.08) with Shelby Higginbottom running a career best (2:14.43) to finish 18th in the 800 meters, Demetra Camble 19th in the 200 meters (24.74), Jalencia Lemons ran a career best (14.78) and finished 26th in the 100 hurdles, and Shalesa Smith placed seventh in the women's triple jump by with a distance of 39'-7¾” (12.08 meters).
Max Tuttle was eighth in the 400 meter hurdles (53.26) while Kevin Piraino finished ninth in the 400 meters (48.57), Shaun Smith ran a career best (21.66) to place 19th in the 200 meters, and Justin Applegate placed 14th in the men's open discus competition at 113'-4” (34.54 meters).
The Sea Ray Relay concludes on Saturday with the first events slated for 12 noon (ET) and the final event at 4:40 p.m. (ET).
