TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – For the fourth straight season, a member of the incoming freshman class for the Indiana State women's basketball team has been named to the Indiana All-Star roster as 2013-14 incoming Sycamore Rhagen Smith was selected to the elite roster by the Indianapolis Star.
Smith, a native of Sullivan, Ind., and Sullivan High School, led the Golden Arrows to a 23-3 season and first place finish in the Western Indiana Conference. The Golden Arrows won their sectional with a 42-20 victory over North Knox on Feb. 9 before falling to Evansville Mater Dei in the regional title games. Smith averaged 19.9 points and 9.6 rebounds last season, also being named IBCA First Team All-State.
Smith is the 21st member of the Indiana State women's basketball program to earn Indiana All-Star status and will be one of four former Indiana All-Stars on next year's roster. Anna Munn (2010), Jessica Valley (2011) and Kasey Johnson (2012) were also named to their respective all-star teams in high school.
The Sullivan High School product follows in her mother's footsteps, as her mother Maria Stockberger Smith was an Indiana All-Star after the 1985 season before coming to Indiana State.
Smith and the rest of the Indiana All-Stars will play a pair of games with the Kentucky All-Stars, heading to Louisville on June 14 before returning to Indianapolis and Bankers Life Fieldhouse on June 15.
