Four Sycamore Golfers Named To All-American Scholar Team By NGCA

CEDAR SPRINGS, Fla.   Indiana State seniors Christina Beyerl and Emily Dixon, junior McCall Christopher and sophomore Amanda Smith were named to the 2011-2012 National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholar Team for Division I.

 

Dixon was named an All-American scholar for the third straight year while Beyerl and Christopher were each named for the second straight year. Smith was honored for the first time.

 

Dixon and Christopher were also named to the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete team this past season and both also received the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award along with Beyerl and Maggie Harper.

 

The four selections is the second most for the Missouri Valley Conference which had 17 athletes honored. Bradley had five players chosen with three from Wichita State, two each from Illinois State and Missouri State, and one from Drake.

 

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
